Intro

Springline Coffee is a premium micro-roasted coffee company based out of coastal Rhode Island. Sourced from small estate coffee growers, quality coffee beans are hand-roasted, packaged, and delivered right to your door.

We partnered together to develop a brand identity and elevated eCommerce experience that encapsulates Springline’s quality, freshness, and passion for the seas.

Branding

Brand

A minimal, nautical inspired brand identity was created, aiming to be a luxury roast served on yachts and sea vessels throughout the Eastern seaboard and beyond. We further defined the brand by describing its characteristics.

 

Logo

The logo was inspired by the cleat, a steel fixture that is used to secure vessels to docks via a springline. We wanted to portray the brand as secure and grounded, not easily swayed by stormy waves.

 

Fonts

Commuter Sans was chosen as the headline font because of it’s minimalism and wide geometric shapes that closely resembled the cleat logo.

 

Color

I chose a color palette that mirrored the deep sea but also contained bright, vibrant, and complimentary accents.

 

Packaging

Standard 12oz and 6oz coffee bags were designed featuring the signature Springline Coffee monogram along the gusset, as well as individually applied labels for 10 different roasts and blends. Additionally, cup designs were mocked up for potential in-store use.

 

Website

The website was created on Shopify for online consumers to easily purchase coffee. I was able to create pages that highlighted Springline’s premium micro-roast and fast shipping as they were an emerging brand.

 

Conclusion

The brand launch was a success and was able to eventually open a brick and mortar store on the coast of Newport, Rhode Island in 2022. Seeing Springline successfully apply their brand guidelines onto their merch and other marketing assets proved to be a great asset.
